FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - A small group of activists is hoping those in the Kentucky state legislature will help them set term limits for U.S. congressmen and women.
Members of the group U.S. Term Limits met with lawmakers in Frankfort on Thursday. Group leaders said they are pushing for a state resolution that would call all the United States into a federal convention on term limits.
They said it would take 34 states to make that call and force a convention.
“We’re getting really close to talking to some people about filing for the resolution,” said Aaron Dukette, the state director for U.S. Term Limits. “There’s a lot of interest on a bipartisan basis, which is really exciting. Very few issues really are bipartisan on a heavy level.”
Dukette said the group is currently working with other states to pass similar legislation.
