LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An organization which helps animals has announced a big milestone.
Thanks to Park Community Credit Union and its member, more than $107,000 has been donated to the Kentucky Humane Society over the past seven years. Almost half of the donations came from Park Community Credit Union members who chose an animal themed debit card. Those cards included a $5.00 donation to KHS.
“Park Community and KHS have created a fantastic partnership that helps create a positive impact for our area,” said Jim Spradlin, President and CEO of Park Community Credit Union. “We are proud to join forces with them in an effort to help strengthen their efforts to improve care and increase placement of animals in our communities.”
Park Community employees have also donated over $12,000 to KHS through an employee giving campaign. The credit union’s Park Store, which sells PCCU-branded merchandise to members, also benefits KHS.
To honor PCCU in their support of the animals, in 2017 KHS named a training room at its behavioral rehabilitation center, the Sam Swope Pet Retreat in Jeffersontown. The Play and Training Room, sponsored by Park Community Credit Union, is used by KHS behavioral staff to prepare shelter dogs for adoption.
“Every $5 donation adds up!” said Alisa Gray, KHS Vice President for Outreach. “We estimate that their support over the years has helped us rescue and find homes for almost 600 grateful shelter animals.”
