LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Jefferson County Public Schools teacher accused of improperly restraining students has been fired.
Nancy Downs was fired from her position at Trunnell Elementary in November after the district claimed she aggressively restrained a student.
JCPS said her behavior was part of a pattern.
Downs was investigated in 2018 for dragging a student down the hallway.
She was also investigated twice in 2017. In one instance, Downs was accused of holding down students and hitting them in the face, though that claim was not proven due to lack of witnesses.
Downs’ lawyer, Tom Shulz, said his client denies those allegations and said JCPS did not get the facts straight.
Arbitration is in the process of being scheduled.
