ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Two additional School Resource Officers have been assigned to schools in Hardin County.
The officers from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office started Monday.
The officers will be based out middle schools and will spend time at elementary schools.
“We are thrilled to be able to work with Hardin County Schools,” Hardin County Sheriff John Ward said in a press release. “These additional officers will work to develop and nurture relationships with students and create an even greater sense of security in our schools and community in which they serve.”
According to Hardin County Schools spokesman John Wright, Deputy Tim Thomas will be the SRO for James T. Alton Middle School, Rineyville Elementary School and Vine Grove Elementary School and Deputy Scot Richardson will work with West Hardin Middle School, Lakewood Elementary School and Cecilia Valley Elementary School.
Hardin County already has SROs in Central Hardin High School, John Hardin High School, North Hardin High School and College View Campus.
In Bullitt County, new SROs have been assigned to all three high schools. North Bullitt High School’s SRO, Chris Hill, comes from the Bullitt County sheriff’s office.
Bullitt Central’s SRO, Tim Wade, comes from the Shepherdsville Police Department.
Bullitt East’s SRO will be covered by an officer from Mt. Washington Police Department, but but that officer hasn’t been placed yet.
