KSP Vehicle Investigation Branch cracks 2007 case

TAYLORSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A case involving stolen Nikon camera equipment got a major break through, after fingerprints lead Kentucky State Police to a man in Miami, 12 years after the crime happened.
Odelmis Hidalgo, 45, was extradited to Kentucky this week from Miami, Florida following his indictment in a 2007 cargo theft case involving nearly 1.2 million dollars’ worth of stolen Nikon camera equipment.

While in transit to its final destination, the vehicle was parked and its contents stolen in Spencer County.
Through this investigation detectives were able to recover fingerprints from the scene of the crime. The fingerprints were entered into the NCIC database and were later matched to the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing by the KSP Vehicle Investigations Branch.
