LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Fairdale High School students dismantled and removed a car trapped inside the Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana building.
The students were part of the Fairdale Fire Science/EMS program. The program is designed for students who want to become firefighters or emergency medial technicians.
“Me, personally, I’m scared of heights and I’m scared of falling,” student Kara Elbert said. “So, when I climb up the ladder and stop, they’re there to cheer me on and not let my fears take over me."
During Monday's exercise, students utilized tools and skills that firefighters use to rescue people inside an automobile that has been in an accident.
The car has been trapped inside the building for nearly 15 year, with no exit that will allow it to be taken out.
“Evaluating a situation and coming up with a solution and being able to follow through with that solution, I don’t think there is anything more valuable than that,” teacher Dan Shirley said.
