COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - One of the boys playing in a Covington, Ky. park when a man came chasing them with a machete is opening up about what he saw.
The 16-year-old was there shooting basketball when a group approached the court. The teen’s 9-year-old cousin was also there.
He says it happened out of nowhere: “They came through this gate. And then they came through this gate. And then while I was getting a rebound they all stood right here. And then that’s when I saw the other two people with knives and then you could see the dude in the back with the machete on his side and that’s when he started pulling it up and smacking it on the ground. When they started banging it on the ground I was asking him like -- what’s wrong? What is going on? That’s what I said to them. Me and my little cousin started running that way because like we couldn’t run that way because they would have caught us right there. So we ran straight and then we just went around. And then when we ended up about right there – that’s when they started chasing us. I was thinking like they were after me because I was the oldest there but I just didn’t know what was going on at that point. And then when they started chasing us I was trying to go get help from my dad. So I guess I kind of (left my cousin) behind, you know, because he’s little and he can’t catch up to us real fast. So I guess they just caught him.”
