RICHMOND, Ky. (WAVE) - A former Baptist Health employee has been arrested after police say he was caught on camera sexually assaulting a patient multiple times.
Kentucky State Police said the incidents involving Alvin C. Buckmaster, 49, of Berea, happened in October 2018 while he was employed at Baptist Health Richmond. Buckmaster was caught on surveillance video with the victim on nine different occasions, according to police.
On one occasion, troopers said Buckmaster subjected the victim to touch his genitals while he was drawing blood from her. He was also seen exposing her breasts and genitals to sexually assault her, according to WKYT.
“I spoke with our investigator and he had the same thought: there’s no way this happened,” Trooper Robert Purdy said. “So, he dug into it, and learned there was enough to continue his investigation.”
Buckmaster pleaded not guilty to the charge on Wednesday. He was released after posting a $10,000 dollar cash bond.
The Berea Fire Chief confirmed to WKYT Buckmaster was a volunteer firefighter. He was suspended as of Tuesday.
In a statement, Baptist Health Richmond said Buckmaster was immediately suspended once they learned of the alleged incidents. Buckmaster has since been let go and the hospital is working with KSP on their investigation.
The victim agreed to have a sexual assault examination and her clothes were collected for DNA testing.
