JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - The call of duty turned into the call of the wild this week for firefighters in Jeffersonville.

A family whose bird flew the coup and landed in a nearby tree went to the fire department for help.

The bird, a macaw named Ruby, was 60 feet up in a tree across from the family’s house.

Wednesday a concerned bird mom came to the firehouse upset cause her “Macaw” named “Ruby” flew from her house to a tree...

Firefighters with Tower 41 took their equipment to save Ruby before storms moved into the area.

Ruby is happily reunited with her family.
