Storm Chase 2019 Blog (6/8) - The end of the road
Ryan Hoke’s 2019 Great Plains Storm Chase comes to an end in South Dakota
RAPID CITY, S.D. (WAVE) - My 2019 Great Plains Storm chase has come to an end in Rapid City, South Dakota after today’s storms in South Dakota under performed and faded. This week we traveled 1,924 miles across seven states, including Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. Check out the map below to see a track of our travels.

I was fortunate enough to travel with a small, but great group of people this week in search of severe weather, including Storm Chasing Adventure Tours leader Todd Thorn and two of his tour guests, Harco from the Netherlands and Nigel from the UK. Storm chasing tours that are later in the season (June) are typically smaller due to the summer vacation season starting up and the storm season winding down.

Check out the video recaps below of the three solid chase days we had earlier this week. Those gustnadoes (spinning outflow whirls in the downdrafts of storms - not tornadoes) in Kansas were something else! Thank you so much for following my 12th annual storm chase on this blog and on my social media accounts.
