Police: 9-year-old boy struck by stray bullet in drive-by shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Police are looking for suspects after a child was hit by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting in Louisville’s California neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday on Saunders Court, police confirmed. That’s off Humler Street near 23rd Street and Garland Avenue.

A 9-year-old boy was inside a home when a stray bullet hit him, police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

The child was rushed to Norton Children’s Hospital, but is expected to be OK.

No one else was hurt, police said.

LMPD’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating. Police have not made any arrests.
