LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In Louisville and across the nation, Americans paused to remember the events of September 11, 2001.

At Louisville Fire Department headquarters and other fire stations across the city, firefighters gathered at the flag to honor the first responders who died that morning.

A total of 2,997 people lost their lives in the attacks. Of those, 412 were emergency workers.
