NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) – Firefighters worked to put out flames at a home in New Albany.
The house fire was reported in the 1100 block of West Market Street around 4:55 a.m. Friday, according to New Albany Fire Chief Matt Juliot.
When fire crews arrived there was heavy fire coming from the home. Firefighters searched the first two floors but were unable to search the third-floor attic area because the roof began to collapse.
Juliot said the home appeared to be vacant. He described the inside of the multi-family home as “carnival style” because choppy walls were built in the middle of rooms and stairways were narrow.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
