Police arrest man accused of shooting and killing another man over basketball game
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Just two weeks after the family of Darryl King Jr., 26, who was gunned down in Iroquois Park in April, gathered to remember their loved one on his birthday, police have made an arrest in the case.
According to LMPD, Leslie Winfrey was arrested by Ohio State Police early Sunday morning. Police say Winfrey was driving on a highway in Lorain County without headlights on. He was then pulled over by an Ohio State Police trooper. The trooper ran his name, which came back with a warrant for murder.
Winfrey was also found in possession of a stolen gun, according to police.
King was shot and killed while playing basketball at Iroquois Park in April. Just hours before King was killed, he was speaking with Simmons College President, Reverend Kevin Cosby, about attending the school, bettering his life, and pursuing his dreams.
It’s unclear when Winfrey will be extradited to Kentucky.
