Coroner identifies person killed in Second Street bridge crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The person who died in an accident on the Second Street bridge Saturday night has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner.

Austin Saylor, 21, died due to blunt force trauma sustained in the collision, according to the Jefferson County Deputy Coroner.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley said around 11 p.m. Saturday night, officers were called to the bridge on reports of a collision with two electric scooters and a vehicle.

Preliminary investigation revealed two adult men on electric scooters were traveling south on the bridge when they were hit by another vehicle traveling south.

The scooter operators were reported as not wearing helmets at the time.

The other person riding a scooter received non-serious injuries and is expected to be okay.

Police said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
