SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) - The Scott County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Sheriff Jerry Goodin tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
A release sent out by the sheriff’s office states that Goodin will be quarantining and will not be at or around the jail or his office until the two week quarantine period concludes.
Goodin began his four-year term as Scott County’s sheriff back in January 2019, after more than 27 years of experience with the Indiana State Police.
He also recently received the Indiana Sheriff of the Year award from the Indiana Sheriff Association.
The sheriff’s office said Chief Deputy Toby Deaton and Colonel Donald Spicer will take calls in his absence until his return.
