In a release sent by the ISP on Tuesday, a trooper witnessed a Chrysler 200 on I-65 just south of the Scottsburg exit matching a vehicle description on reports of reckless driving.

The trooper observed the car driving on the center line and not allowing the string of other cars behind to pass.

Another officer attempted to stop the vehicle after it exited on the Scottsburg ramp. The car stopped in the middle of State Road 56 while the traffic light was green.

When the car was pulled to the side of the highway, the driver then backed up towards the officer’s car, forcing them to back up to avoid being hit.

The traffic stop and DUI investigation also revealed a vehicle matching the Chrysler’s description was also involved in a hit-and-run near Henryville just before the traffic stop. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is currently handling that investigation.

Akin was sent to Scott Memorial Hospital for a blood draw as part of the DUI investigation, where it was revealed her Blood Alcohol Content was .405, over five times the legal limit.

The driver was later sent to Scott County Jail for treatment, where charges were filed. Akin was also cited for an open container within the vehicle.
