LMPD: Shots fired after driver of stolen vehicle points gun at officers
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Shots were fired after the driver of a stolen vehicle pointed a gun at officers, according to Louisville Metro police.
A suspicious vehicle was reported at a business in the 8300 block of Third Street Road around 10 a.m. Friday, according to LMPD Dwight Mitchell.
Officers located the vehicle with the person inside and ran the plate. After running the plate, officers confirmed the vehicle was stolen out of Versailles, Kentucky.
The vehicle drove off toward Manslick Road. Mitchell said the driver pointed a gun at officers and shots were fired by an officer.
The vehicle stopped on Manslick Road near Crums Lane. The LMPD SWAT Team and negotiators were called and the driver was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Mitchell said the LMPD Public Integrity Unit is investigating.
