LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (WAVE) - A New Year’s Eve party turned violent in Grayson County, leaving a woman in critical condition, according to a report.

According to Leitchfield radio station K105.com, 21-year-old Kenneth Duncan and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Rachel Mendoza Lunsford, were arguing at the party.

Police said Duncan left after the argument, but returned a short time later, according to the K105 report.

As Duncan was pulling up, Lunsford ran toward the road and may have slipped, falling in front of Duncan’s pickup truck, police said.

That’s when the pickup truck struck Lunsford, causing “a severe head injury along with other injuries,” K105 reported.

Another friend rushed Lunsford to a hospital, where she was last reported in critical condition.

Police said Duncan was visibly upset; he was charged with DUI and assault and remains in the Grayson County Detention Center.
