LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Bellarmine University opened conference play in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a nail-biter, but conference favorite, Lipscomb made plays down the stretch to beat the Knights 77-72 on Friday in Freedom Hall.

Bellarmine had its chances to tie it late, but with the Bison leading 74-72, the Knights’ Sam DeVault slipped while receiving a pass from Dylann Penn resulting in a turnover and forcing Penn to foul Jake Wolfe who iced the game at the line.

Ethan Claycomb led the way for Bellarmine with 16 points. Lipscomb caught fire in the second half making just under 62% from the field. They also finished 12-23 from three point land for the game. These two teams will meet again at five o’clock on Saturday afternoon at Freedom Hall.
