18-year-old shot, killed on New Year’s Day identified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man who died after he was shot in New Year’s Day has been identified.

Jihad Powell, 18, was shot in the 6200 block of Shepherdsville Road on Jan. 1, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office.

Powell was taken to Jewish Hospital where he died from his injuries around 1:45 a.m.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating his death.
