LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Fire and Rescue is investigating an early-morning house fire in the Portland neighborhood Sunday.
The fire department posted that crews were sent to the 2700 block of Portland Avenue Sunday around 3:49 a.m. on calls of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from a two-story home extending to two neighboring homes to its sides.
The occupants of the home had escaped prior to firefighters’ arrival. Crews quickly worked to extinguish the flames from inside the three homes, as outside crews deployed exposure lines to prevent the fire from spreading to other properties.
Louisville Fire and Rescue said the fire was brought under control within 35 minutes and 28 firefighters responded to the scene.
The main home was destroyed and the two neighboring homes sustained significant damage, according to the fire department.
Three residents were displaced due to the fire, and no civilians or firefighters were injured.
Investigators with LFD Arson are working to determine the cause of the fire.
