LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - One of the newest COVID vaccination sites is located in the Shawnee neighborhood, and its site representative said it’s ready to vaccinate about 400 people a day.
On the first day of shots at Whitney Young Elementary School, Shawn Carter said he was more than ready to hop in line.
”I’m sick of this COVID stuff,” he said. “I’m just excited to try and get it on over with.”
Carter said he feels like he caught COVID before the pandemic really hit. He was sick before everything shut down in Kentucky last March, and was back on his feet in a week.
Health officials said that despite there being several options, you shouldn’t wait for a specific shot; just get what’s available to you. That’s a plan Carter said he was more than content to work with.
”I just want the shot,” Carter said. “I just want the shot ... any shot.”
Norton Healthcare helped provided the services with nearly 40 workers at the site on Thursday’s first day.
Carter said he wants what’s on the top of many wish lists for 2021.
”I’m ready to return to normal,” he said. “These masks are getting on my nerves.”
With each move up the line, Carter got closer to his goal.
Norton’s director of operations, Jessica Barnes, said the site is open Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. You can call 1-888-777-7219 any day of the week to schedule an appointment.
