LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Five people, including three officers, were injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 65.

The crash was reported in the southbound lanes of I-65, near Outer Loop, around 5:50 a.m. Thursday, according to TRIMARC.

Louisville Metro police said an SUV was stalled on the interstate and was rear-ended by a pickup truck. Both vehicles caught on fire

Two people involved in the crash and three officers were taken to University of Louisville Hospital.

The people involved in the crash are expected to recover, LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

The officers were being treated for smoke inhalation.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
