LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In honor of the International Day of the Girl, girls at Central High School heard from Alum Alice Houston in a program that aims to inspire young women.

Houston is the HJI supply chain solutions co-founder. She joined the Mayor’s wife Rachel Greenberg and Central Alum Carrye Jones. Together they highlighted the importance of finding the opportunities to analyze, problem-solve and communicate with one another.

They encouraged young women to appreciate the skills of writing, speaking and communicating while also participating in clubs, athletics and their community.

”I was in an industry that didn’t have very many women, and options were so limited,” Houston said. “They have to see what is possible. It is really a value to me, to take the time, as did others on the panel, so that they can see the possibilities.”

Some of the girls at the panel said they were inspired by the program and would love to see other schools host similar programs as well.
