BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Bowling Green Police responded to an injury accident on Campbell Lane Friday just after 5:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located a female in the left-hand lane. Police say she had been struck by a vehicle that was entering the turn lane.

“We know at this point in time she was struck by a vehicle which then knocked her into the lane of travel and she was hit by another vehicle as well,” said Ronnie Ward, Bowling Green Police Information Officer.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old WKU student Daishyera Chanel Marie Garner.

According to BGPD, Garner was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“At this point in the investigation, we can neither confirm nor deny that alcohol is involved in this. We need to be able to talk to all the parties, but I’ll tell you at this point the drivers we have spoken to or the people that are involved, we do not suspect it right now. However, we always want to make sure that we fully investigate this and find out exactly what happened,” Officer Ward said.

The BGPD Accident Reconstruction Team was on the scene for several hours to reconstruct the collision.

Campbell Lane was down to two lanes but has since reopened.
