On Wednesday afternoon, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office announced that they had arrested Russell Griffin, 41, of Elizabethtown for an illegal transaction with Mason Johnson involving a Taser.
Mason Johnson, 22, answered to several charges in court Tuesday, including use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and impersonating a peace officer.
Nelson County deputies arrested 22-year-old Mason Johnson Monday after several illegal items and a detailed murder and kidnapping plot were found inside of his home.
The Nelson County judge overseeing the Crystal Rogers case has pushed back a scheduled court appearance for Joseph Lawson, a suspect charged in connection with Rogers’ murder.
In issuing his ruling, Judge Charles Simms III said the court believes Brooks Houck has “access to substantial financial resources,” and could also be “a flight risk” because of the possible prison sentence he would face if found guilty.
It’s a day that’s eight years in the making as Houck is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the 2015 disappearance of Crystal Rogers.
“A $10,000,000 bond is excessive, punitive, and serves no purpose other than to punish Mr. Houck by keeping him incarcerated while this matter is pending,” his attorney argued.
So much has happened over the past eight years in the Crystal Rogers case. Questions left unanswered, a family devastated, a community frustrated and left on the edge for years.
