LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested one of two suspected wanted in the shooting of a woman at Waterfront Park Wednesday afternoon. According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the man taken into custody in the 900 block of East Jefferson is believed to be the person that fired the shots.
Around 4:30 p.m., police received a report that a woman had been shot at Waterfront Park by two black males. The victim was taken to University Hospital by the person who witnessed the shooting. Police say the witness described the two men as being in their late teens to early 20's. One suspect as wearing a tie-dyed shirt; the other a striped shirt.
During the afternoon rush hour, LMPD officers began searching an area underneath Interstate 65 east of Louisville Slugger Field for one of the suspects that was seen heading in that direction. A home on East Washington Street was also searched by police.
Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked the call the LMPD Crime Tip Line at 574-LMPD (5673) or 911. All calls to the Crime Tip Line are anonymous.
Mitchell said the injuries to the wounded woman are not life threatening.
