This Week On Kentuckiana Motorsports: Michael Waltrip

By Craig Hoffman

Memorial Day has come and gone, and that means the summer racing season in Kentuckiana is underway. The latest edition of Kentuckiana Motorsports takes a look at local Late Model racers, and the season to date on a number of local tracks. Our cameras capture the action at the Sportsdrome in Jeffersonville, and Salem Speedway. We also talk with Kentucky native Michael Waltrip about his "special" brand of driving.

Our next edition of Kentuckiana Motorsports airs Wednesday, June 4, at 8 p.m. on Insight Communications Channel 8. Kentuckiana Motorsports is a locally produced program covering America's most popular spectator sport, auto racing.

"I had a great time being on the show" said WAMZ Radio personality Bobby Jack Murphy. The popular morning drive radio host is the featured studio guest. Bobby Jack has participated in a number of events at local tracks.

Kentuckiana Motorsports airs each Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m., with rebroadcasts at other times during the week (see full schedule below). The half-hour program brings a local perspective to NASCAR racing, while also covering local racing and other forms of motorsports.

The show is co-hosted by Craig Hoffman, a popular Louisville anchor/reporter on WAVE-3 with a long background of covering and following NASCAR, and Scott Douglass, a Jeffersonville resident who most recently broadcast Monster Jam, IHRA Drag Racing on TNN, and serves as one of the track announcers at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky.

Kentuckiana Motorsports is the only half-hour local television program devoted exclusively to motorsports coverage. You can pick up a copy of the LEO at more than 800 outlets to find the weekly Kentuckina Motorsports schedule. Sponsors continue to join the fast growing racing program. Some include Louisville Tech, Owen Funeral Home, Louisville attorney Jim Ellis, PNC Bank, Bob Hook Chevrolet. You can also watch Kentuckiana Motorsports every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Jimmy's On the River in Jeffersonville, another Kentuckiana Motorsports sponsor.

"Our customers love racing, we are glad to be a part of Kentuckiana Motorsports," said Rick Redman, a spokesman with the Kentucky Lottery. Every week Kentuckiana Motorsports gives away $100 worth of Kentucky Lottery tickets in the "Pick the Winner" contest.
