TAYLORSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The pilot of small plane was injured when he crashed in Spencer County Saturday morning.

According to the Spencer County Sheriff's Office, the fixed-wing, single engine plane clipped power lines and went down in the 700 block of Elk Creek Road in Taylorsville about 9 a.m. on Oct. 2.

"This pilot was coming in for a gathering of small planes that they do the first Saturday of every month," said Detective Kyle Bennett with the Spencer County Sheriff's Office. "He circled and came in to get a straight drop to the runway where the plane then clipped power lines. It clipped his right wing and hit the windshield and part of the left landing gear. He then came down into this field at about a 45 degree angle."

The pilot, Dwayne Hargrove from Louisville, was taken to University Hospital in Louisville.

Bennett described the pilot's injuries as minor, and says the pilot was attempting to land in a private field.

There were no passengers on the plane.
