LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Metro police arrested a man they say fired a shot inside a bank during a robbery.

Police say 24-year-old Alexander Rankin walked into the Fifth Third Bank in the 2000 block of Bardstown Road near Douglass Boulevard, announced he was robbing it and fired a shot into the ceiling.

No one was hurt.

Detectives think Rankin is the same man who robbed a Speedway gas station earlier in the day on Taylorsville Road.

Rankin is charged with two counts of robbery and tampering with physical evidence. He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and is expected to be arraigned Oct. 21.
