CORYDON, IN (WAVE) - A suspect has confessed in the case of a cocker spaniel thrown from a car in southern Indiana. Harrison County prosecutors have charged 56-year-old Maximina Sue Shelton of Salem with tossing the dog, now known as Bambi, from her vehicle on March 18 near New Salisbury.
"They asked her to come in and on a videotape, there is a signed confession," said Rebecca Eaves of the Shamrock Arrow Fund. "She confessed to throwing Bambi from the car. The sad part is this will be a misdemeanor."
Witnesses say Shelton also tried to run over the dog after shoving it out the window.
The dog has undergone surgery and is recovering at a Louisville veterinary clinic.
