NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - A New Albany man is charged with stealing an ambulance. Police arrested Jeremy Wooten early Saturday morning.

EMS officials at New Albany Fire and Rescue say an ambulance was stolen early April 16 outside Floyd Memorial Hospital while an EMT was checking in a patient.

We're told Wooten was arrested less than a quarter of mile from where he allegedly stole the ambulance. He is facing several charges, including auto theft, unauthorized entry of an automobile, and intimidation of law enforcement.

Wooten has a lengthy criminal history.

This is the second ambulance in New Albany to be stolen in a matter of weeks. An ambulance was stolen in late March from a KFC in New Albany. Investigators say 43-year old Larry Loughman of Jeffersonville stole the Orange County ambulance while the crew stopped for dinner.

Police chased Loughman into Scott and Jackson counties, and he hit hit a police cruiser before he was finally stopped and arrested.
