NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - The parking lot for the Riverfront Amphitheater in New Albany is under water.

Authorities said the stage underneath has flooded and a skate park nearby as well. Rain pounded Southern Indiana over the holiday weekend, causing problems for drivers. The Ohio River has risen past the shore on both sides of the river.

Dennis Rushing and his 7-year-old son, Drake, visited the area next to the Riverfront Amphitheater because they planned to go fishing, but the water was too high.

"We should have brought the boat with us, huh," he joked. "We could have put the boat right here," he said to his son.

Rushing said many roads were closed that he saw due to flooding. "Yesterday we were out and about on the back roads and there {are} a lot of roads you're going through water. Almost all back roads have water somewhere most of them deep enough to close," he said.
