LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Funeral arrangements are pending at the Resthaven funeral home for Keegan Adkins, the 6-year-old young boy pulled from a Fern Creek pool.
Adkins was found underwater at one of the outdoor pools at Woodhaven Country Club on Friday. A WAVE 3 viewer, who was at the pool says CPR was given to the child for at least 25-minutes before paramedics arrived.
After spending several hours at Kosair Children's Hospital, a Jefferson County Coroner says Adkins was pronounced dead shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The country club pool was open Saturday. A sign nearby asked people to pray for Adkins and his family during this difficult time.
WAVE 3 tried to contact officials with the country club. A manager said they have no comment at this time, and asked us to leave the property.
They have not said what happened during the incident.
WAVE 3 has learned Adkins' father is an Okolona firefighter
WAVE 3 spoke with a family friend on the phone Saturday night.
The family friend says "the family is in shock and is devastated."
He adds "The Adkins family has done a lot for the community through public service."
