LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) - A deferred alford plea deal means the man charged in the Thanksgiving crash that killed two teens won't do any jail time.
In court Tuesday, Robert Patrick Kane apologized to the victims' families.
Last Thanksgiving, Kane lost control of his SUV on I-71 in Oldham County. 17-year-old Madeline Thomas and 19-year-old Adrian Hightower, both of Louisville, died.
Kane took the alford plea because he said he can't remember the crash.
Part of the deal means he must do 500 hours of community service and pay $10,000 to a scholarship fund at Seneca High School.
If Kane sticks to the terms of the deal, in 3 years the charges would be wiped from his record.
