LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - A family of four escaped their burning home early Tuesday morning.
MetroSafe dispatchers got the call to 1764 Bernheim Lane near Algonquin Parkway and Dixie Highway at 3:02 a.m.
It took Louisville firefighters five minutes to arrive on the scene, and another 13 minutes to put out the fire that started in an upstairs closet.
The second floor of the home suffered heavy smoke damage. Fire crews had cut a hole in the roof to vent some of the smoke and heat.
According to firefighters, the four people living in the home when the fire started got out safely and are staying with relatives.
