LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - As the bluegrass rivalry hits the Big Easy, expect Mayor Greg Fischer to be there cheering on the University of Louisville Cardinals.
Fischer confirmed he will be traveling to New Orleans this weekend. He plans to leave Friday.
The mayor didn't elaborate whether he'll fly or drive, but Fischer confirmed he'll make the trip to represent the city.
"Look, I don't want to go to New Orleans, but it's a mayoral duty," said Fischer. "I don't even know what it's going to cost right now. Whatever the right thing to do, we'll certainly do that."
The mayor plans to stay in New Orleans until Tuesday. He is optimistic the Cards will advance Saturday and play Ohio State or Kansas Monday night for the national championship.
