LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man is in jail and two people are dead after a shooting near the I-264 Eastbound Dixie Highway exit.

Police found cousins 35-year-old Menchester "La-Toy" Bray, and 37-year-old Derek Slade shot to death in a vehicle and officers charged a passenger with the crime.

Officers arrested William Truss, 44, at the scene of the shooting. Truss faces two counts of murder. When police arrived to the scene just after 4 a.m. Sunday, Truss was still there.

Shively Police Detective Josh Myers said the shooting occurred in a grassy area near the southbound exit ramp. The victims were inside a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Someone called 911 and tipped off police. Police are still trying to track down the person who made that call.

When police pulled up, they found a bullet hole in a window and Truss was inside. Officers recovered a handgun and found Bray who died of single gun shot wound to the head and Slade who died of multiple gun shot wounds to head and neck.

Myers said they're still trying to figure out why Truss allegedly killed the man and woman.

"The circumstances surrounding the motive are still under investigation at this point. We did locate things in the vehicle that aided us in our investigation," Myers said.

Investigators believe everything occurred inside the vehicle. Truss is being held at Metro Corrections.

Bray's funeral will be held at Webb funeral home in Shelbyville. Funeral arrangements for Slade are still pending.
