(Paducah, Ky., April 22nd, 2004, 11:00 a.m.) -- Somebody stole Jesus from a church in Paducah.
The seven-foot-tall bronze statue was reported missing yesterday from Grace Episcopal Church. It's valued at $40,000 dollars.
City police spokesman Robin Newberry says only Jesus' feet were left behind. She says the statue was either broken or cut from its base.
The statue had stood at the head of the church's memorial garden. It was donated to the church in 1992 by the longtime former rector, the Reverend Tim Taylor, and his wife, Mary Ready. They bought the statue at the 1968 World's Fair.
