Victim in Gagel Avenue homicide identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The victim in a homicide investigation has been identified.
Deputy Coroner Eddy Robinson identified the victim as 67-year-old David Allen. Allen lived in the 700 block of Gagle Avenue near Iroquois Park.
Allen was pronounced dead when police arrived on the scene at 4:06 a.m. Friday. The coroner said an autopsy revealed Allen died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The Louisville Metro Police SWAT team took someone into custody they are called a person of interest in the investigation.
Friday morning police went to serve a search warrant, but by early afternoon, they were serving another search warrant at a different home fewer than three miles away. The person police wanted was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. at a home on Grand Ridge Court.
Police said this latest development was related to the homicide at 738 Gagel Avenue in where Allen was shot to death.
A family member of the victim called police at 3:58 a.m. Friday to report the shooting, according to investigators. Police said they believed the man was killed not more than a few hours before they were notified of the homicide.
Officers said they believe the victim was targeted and that no one else in the neighborhood was in danger.
Police have not released the name of the person they are holding, but said the house where he was located belongs to a relative.
Funeral arrangements for Allen are pending. They will take place at Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway.
