BRANDENBURG, KY (WAVE) – The search for a missing Louisville mother may have ended Friday morning with the discovery of a body in the Ohio River.

According to Master Trooper Norman Chaffins of the Kentucky State Police Elizabethtown post, troopers were notified around 9:20 a.m. by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials that a body was found in the river near Otter Creek Park in Meade County.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Louisville for autopsy and identification.

Chaffins would not say if the body is that of Carrie Ruffra, 37, whose SUV was found on the morning of July 4 along a boat ramp at the park. Ruffra's purse, cell phone and other belongings were still inside the vehicle.

KSP said their investigation is ongoing, but have previously stated that there was no evidence of foul play in Ruffra's disappearance.
