NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) – A New Albany grandmother who shot and killed her son-in-law received a 30 year sentence on Thursday.
Police responded to a 911 call in August 2011 at Nettie Luckett's home on Culbertson Avenue.
They said Luckett was pacing in front on the house and told them she had shot and killed Douglas Randolph, 49. He died from a shot to the back of the head at point blank range.
She had refused to say a word about what happened until Thursday after her sentencing. "I think people need to get together on child molesters and put them in prison for life without parole," said Luckett.
Luckett would not elaborate on what she meant. She never said anything about Randolph being a child molester.
The prosecutor said not one family member or friend has said anything of the sort about Randolph.
