Veterans offered special driver's licenses

FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Governor Steve Beshear announced Wednesday that military veterans can now be issued a driver's license with a new "veteran" designation.

The 2012 general assembly authorized a special veteran designation on driver's licenses.

The word "veteran" will be printed vertically and in capital letters along the right border of the license holder's photo.

Veterans are advised not to wait until the next renewal period to get the new license designation, the reprinted licenses are being offered at no extra cost to the veterans until December 31, 2012.
