Babysitter sentenced for death of toddler

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - The Hardin County woman who admitted to beating a toddler in her care causing her death will spend 35 years in prison.
Ashley Chapman was sentenced Thursday in Hardin Circuit Court. On November 14, Chapman pled guilty to murder charges.

Kentucky State Police said on January 25, 2012, Chapman was watching two-year-old Layla Johnson at her home in Vine Grove. Layla was found unresponsive and had bruises all over her body.
Layla was rushed to Kosair Children's Hospital and died a few days later.
The 35 year sentence imposed followed the recommendation of prosecutors after Chapman entered her guilty plea.
