LARUE COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A central Kentucky man was sentenced after kidnapping a 10-year-old girl and attempting to rape and kill her.

In a Larue County court Monday morning, a judge sentenced Jetto Dye, 28, to a total of 30 consecutive years in prison.

The judge sentenced Dye to serve 15 years for the attempted rape, 15 years for attempted murder and 20 years for kidnapping to be served concurrently.

Dye will be eligible for parole in 20 years. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

Dye pleaded guilty in November to taking the girl from his home and into a wooded area behind the house.

Kentucky State Police said Dye is not related to the child, but her parents were visiting his home and left briefly while the girl was asleep.
