JCPS teacher charged with sexual abuse of student

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Jefferson County Public School teacher was arrested for having sexual relations with a student.
According to an arrest report, Louisville Metro Police found Jessica M. Boyers, 24, around 9:45 p.m. on April 11 in the company of a juvenile in Buechel Park in the 200 block of Alpha Avenue.
The report states the juvenile told police there had been sexual contact between the two and that Boyers was a teacher of the juvenile.
Boyers was arrested on a charge of sexual abuse and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections. She was later released on her own recognizance and will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 16.
Ben Jackey, a JCPS spokesperson, said Boyers was hired full time as a teacher at Highland Middle School in October 2012. Prior to that, she had worked as a substitute teacher at various school for a year.
Jackey said Boyers will be paid non-instructional duties pending the outcome of the criminal process.
