LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The names of a couple found dead in their home in the Highview area Sunday afternoon have been released.

Deputy coroner Larry Carroll said it is unclear how Jeffrey and Kathy Epley, both 52, died.

The couple was found by Louisville Metro Police officers asked to do a welfare check at a home in the 6600 block of Musket Drive, near the intersection of Smyrna Parkway and E. Manslick Road. After getting no answer to their knocks, officers forced their way inside and found the bodies of the Epleys.

Newspapers had been building up outside the home and some neighbors said there was an unusual smell near the house.

Carroll tells WAVE 3 his office is waiting on toxicology reports to come back, but the deaths of the Epleys is not being considered a homicide.

Funeral arrangements for the Epleys are pending.
