LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – GE will now build matching front load washer and dryers at Appliance Park. Louisville will be the first city in America to produce this type of appliance. The production of them will bring 200 jobs to the area.

"This is such a great success story," said Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY 3rd). I think this is the third announcement in the last 18 months about new activity here at Appliance Park with hundreds and hundreds of new jobs."

William Barbour, a seven year employee of GE, said he's loved working at GE and glad they continue to bring back jobs from overseas.

"I think that's important because I do think we need to pay closer attention to doing more for Americans," said Barbour. "It's about Americans. We have to step up for us."

The new washers and dryers are for everybody because they have built in risers to raise them so you don't hunch over all day doing laundry. They also have a wider door for larger loads, a stain removal guide for most common stains, an overnight dry function that dries a small item in the washer and more.

"As long as GE continues to bring new products and services to this area more and more people will look to the Louisville area for manufacturing," said Barbour."
