LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The defense rested its case Thursday morning in the murder trial of 17-year-old Joshua Young. Closing arguments were set for 9 a.m. Friday.

Prosecutors say Young and his father, Josh Gouker, killed Young's stepbrother Trey Zwicker in May 2011. The 14-year-old boy's badly beaten body was found by students in a ditch behind Liberty High School.

Gouker pleaded guilty to the killing and is serving a life sentence. He testified Monday in his son's trial that Young did not participate in Zwicker's murder.

On Thursday, jurors in the Young trial were instructed to not speak with anyone about the case. They were also told they could be sequestered if deliberations, which could begin on Friday, are lengthy.
